A discussion of the history of Cyprus with Dr. Miljan Peter Ilich.

A year into the siege of Cyprus the Muslim Sultan was puzzled by the delay in defeating the Christian Island. Cyprus was surrounded by the entire Turkish Naval force. The Orthodox Christian defenders were out-numbered 10 to 1. The Sultan asked the Commander of the Muslim Forces, "Why hasn't Cyprus yet Fallen?"

The Muslim Commander answered, "Your Imperial Resplendentness, Cyprus has not yet fallen because she is defended by giants."

Ecumenical Dialogues Intensified

At the beginning of September (n.s.) Bartholomew called together a “Synaxis of the Patriarchates and the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus" at the Phanar in order to coordinate their efforts for the First Ecumenistic Council which they plan to convene shortly. At it, they will most certainly have to deal with a conflict with the Patriarchate of Moscow concerning primacy, but also they will proclaim the heresy of Ecumenism with an alleged synodal decision of Ecumenical (or rather Ecumenistic) force.
