Inaugural Liturgy Served in San Diego Mission

Bishop Sergios of Loch Lomond, Igoumenos of Saint Gregory of Sinai Monastery in Lake County, California, served the first liturgy in a new Mission effort in San Diego on Sunday, August 1/14.

His Eminence, Metropolitan Moses of Portland blessed the San Diego Mission to designate Saint John of Shanghai and the Western United States as its patron saint.

This inaugural Liturgy was served in the home of Dr and Mrs James Seraphim Steger.

We intend to serve once a month during this initial phase, to see if there are Orthodox Christians interested in joining a liturgical community whose Hierarchs are not involved in the pan-heresy of ecumenism - particularly in its chief institutional expressions, the World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches.
