Dear Fathers:
Christ is on our midst.
At the end of October (Oct. 22 to Nov. 4) Bishop Maximus of Pelagonia will make a missionary trip to the African country of Nigeria. In Nigeria, a large group of people from the New Calendarist Patriarchate of Alexandria, realizing the problems with the heresy of Ecumenism, have asked to be received into our holy Church. The Synod in Greece assigned the responsibility for the fledgling Church in Nigeria to the GOC of America, inasmuch as the official language of the country is English. Now Bishop Maximus will go to establish approximately six churches, chrismate hundreds of faithful, meet with local kings, and give instruction to the new flock of Christ on True Orthodoxy. He is asking for volunteers to accompany him in order to help transport books, vestments, liturgical items, and so forth, and to assist in general with the missionary endeavor. Additionally, he is seeking a priest to accompany him to help with the services, including possible ordinations. Anyone who is interested may contact him at:

Protopresbyter George Kamberidis

Q. In considering becoming part of the GOC in America, I am getting warnings from various circles that the attitude of GOC people is that of being “walled off,” “arrogant,” “judgmental,” and “in your face” toward those not in the Genuine Orthodox Church, with accusations such as “World Orthodox” priests are “not even Christians” and the like. Could you give me your personal, realistic assessment of this dynamic and possibly refer me to an official statement on how GOC members should and do relate to and communicate with those in “World Orthodoxy”?
