His Beatitude, Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens and All Greece, to Visit New York and Other Cities in the U.S. and Canada

At the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos of America, His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of the G.O.C. of Athens and all Greece will visit America and Canada from Thursday September 29th until Thursday October 20th 2011, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia and His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon, Chief-Secretary of the Holy Synod.

The Archbishop and his entourage will arrive in NY on Thursday, September 29th, where he will preside over a meeting of the Eparchial Synod on Saturday. The Holy Eparchial Synod in America includes Their Eminences, Metropolitan Pavlos of North and South America and Metropolitan Moses of Portland and the Western United States, and Their Graces, Bishop Photios of Marathon, Bishop Christodoulos of Theoupolis, and Bishop Sergios of Loch Lomond.

On Saturday October 1st at 6:30 PM, Great Vespers will be take place in the church of St. Isidore in Bethpage L.I.

On Sunday October 2nd at 8 AM, a hierarchical Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Markella in Astoria, presided over by His Beatitude. Concelebrating will also be all the hierarchs of the Eparchial Synod of our Church in America.

After his visit to the Cathedral His Beatitude the Archbishop and his entourage will make a pastoral tour visiting the parishes and monasteries of the Church of the G.O.C. of America in New York, Montreal, Toronto, Portland, Chicago and Detroit.

His Beatitude will preside over the Toronto Orthodox Conference hosted by the parish of St. Nektarios in Toronto Canada from October 7th to the 10th.

Ecumenical Dialogues Intensified

At the beginning of September (n.s.) Bartholomew called together a “Synaxis of the Patriarchates and the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus" at the Phanar in order to coordinate their efforts for the First Ecumenistic Council which they plan to convene shortly. At it, they will most certainly have to deal with a conflict with the Patriarchate of Moscow concerning primacy, but also they will proclaim the heresy of Ecumenism with an alleged synodal decision of Ecumenical (or rather Ecumenistic) force. Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Mission, Tucson, Arizona

Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church is a beautiful mission parish near downtown Tucson, a city in southern Arizona. It was started in 1997 by Father John Bockman, who was a missionary Priest formerly serving missions in Tennessee and Massachusetts since 1990. Father John served the faithful in Tucson and the surrounding area in his home Chapel until his repose in November of 2000. His wife, Presbytera Valerie, continued to make her home Chapel available for the mission, with clergy from Saint Nectarios Orthodox Church in Seattle and His Eminence, Metropolitan Moses of Toronto (then of Portland), visiting to provide the Divine Services.

Why do we Call Angels “Saint”?

Q. I noticed that we call the angels Michael and Gabriel "Saint." I thought the title "Saint" was only given to humans who have proven themselves Godly. Do you mind clarifying this for me? Is there a deeper meaning to "Saint" that I am not aware of?
